Virtual TA
The Virtual-TA service is custom-priced based on the following factors:
- LEVEL: Undergraduate versus Graduate: We rely on PhD-qualified TAs to grade graduate-level work and Masters-/PhD-qualified graders to grade undergraduate-level work.
- COMPLEXITY: If all students respond to the same prompt, the grading benefits from learning-by-doing. If students choose a unique topic, each paper will take a little longer to grade, as the TA must reorient to each time.
- LENGTH: The length of a paper—word-count or number of pages—determines the time taken to grade, given that our TAs provide detailed feedback. Papers in courses involving symbolic-notation or graphics-intensive work (e.g., Math, Physics, Chemistry, designs, blueprints, etc) are counted differently for length.
- RUBRIC CRITERIA: The number of criteria on a grading rubric has a bearing on the time needed to grade. An overall, summative grade is easier to arrive at than scoring on, say, 3-4 criteria.
- GRANULARITY OF FEEDBACK: As might be expected, grading with detailed, contextual feedback—including commenting on writing, grammar, paragraphing, etc—takes longer than providing a few overall comments.
